Deferral request for Mortgage payment


In order to request a deferral of your regularly scheduled monthly mortgage payments, including principal, interest and escrow payments, please follow these instructions.  Send an email to home.help@huntington.com.  

In your email, please include:

  • Account holder’s name as it appears on your account
  • The 10-digit account number
  • Current phone number
  • Length of time you would like to defer your payments
  • Specific pandemic related hardship

An example of a hardship is a reduction in income because you were laid off as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We plan to respond to your request by email within 2 business days. If approved, it may take up to 72 hours for the deferral to be reflected in our systems. Please keep in mind that until your deferral request is processed and approved, you should continue to make your regular payments.

By sending an email to home.help@huntington.com, you are requesting a deferral of payments for your loan due to a hardship created by the COVID-19 pandemic. If you have a federally backed mortgage loan, we will offer a loan forbearance consistent with the provisions of the CARES Act. For all other loans, three months is the maximum deferral period we offer. During the deferral, also called the forbearance period, you will not be required to make regular monthly payments including principal, interest or escrow charges. At the end of the forbearance period, you will be eligible for a loan modification or another option to avoid having to pay the deferred amount in one lump sum. During the period of any approved forbearance, you will be considered current on your loan and no late fees or other additional charges will be imposed on you as a result of the forbearance.
