Andy Harmening is Senior Executive Vice President, Consumer and Business Banking Director for Huntington. With more than 25 years in banking, he began his career as a branch manager and worked his way up to his current role. He is responsible for 8,500 colleagues including the bank’s branch delivery network of nearly 1,000 branches, business banking, home lending, Huntington’s Investment Company, customer advocacy, card products, deposits, and ATM branch distribution.
Prior to joining Huntington, he served as the Vice Chairman of Bank of the West’s Consumer Banking Division. Under his leadership, Bank of the West received numerous awards and national recognition for customer service. Bank of the West was named one of America’s most reputable banks by the Reputation Institute/American Banker, recognized as one of Money Magazine’s 2013 Best Banks in America and earned 11 Greenwich Excellence Awards in 2014.
His prior experience also includes nine years with U.S. Bank in a succession of increasingly broad roles within the Small Business and Commercial Banking divisions. He’s held many senior leadership positions in retail, product management, small business and commercial banking. He began his career with Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Outside of Huntington, Andy currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Bankers Association. The CBA’s members, comprised of the nation’s largest financial institutions, regional banks and premier service providers to banks, collectively hold two-thirds of the industry’s total assets. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.
Andy earned his bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and his MBA from the University of Cincinnati.
