About Steve

Mr. Steinour is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Huntington and President and CEO of Huntington Bank since January 2009. He was also Chairman of Huntington Bank until the TCF merger. He joined Huntington from CrossHarbor Capital Partners in Boston, where he served as a Managing Partner. Mr. Steinour served in various executive roles for Citizens Financial Group in Providence, Rhode Island, from 1992 to 2008, with responsibilities for credit, risk management, wholesale and regional banking, consumer lending, technology, and operations, among others. He was named President in 2005 and CEO in 2007.

Mr. Steinour serves as the chair of the audit committee and as a member of the executive committee on the board of directors for Bath & Body Works, Inc. He serves on the board of Battelle Memorial Institute where he is a member of the human resources, compensation, and governance committee. He is a trustee of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and co-chair of The Columbus Partnership. He is a member of the Ohio Business Roundtable, the Bank Policy Institute, and The Clearing House. Mr. Steinour served on the board of Exelon Corporation until April 2020 and was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. He served on the board of trustees of Liberty Property Trust, is a former trustee of the Eisenhower Fellowships and the National Constitution Center, and past chairman of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

With more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of banking, Mr. Steinour brings extensive leadership experience, as well as broad knowledge of the banking industry, to the Board and his role as CEO.

Mr. Steinour holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Gettysburg College and completed the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program.
