A Personal Investment in Stronger Communities
Huntington leader honored for decades of investing in local communitiesThe Detroit News has named Sandy Pierce, who leads many of Huntington’s businesses and our efforts in Michigan, as one of the 2020 Michiganians of the Year. The newspaper recognized Sandy for her lifelong commitment to invest in local communities, including her leadership in developing our new five-year, $20 billion Community Plan initiative across Michigan and the Midwest.
Huntington developed a five-year $20 billion Community Plan in cooperation with community organizations throughout the Midwest to ensure the bank’s commitment reflects the needs of people and businesses in its footprint. It includes increased investments in Access to Capital, Affordable Housing and Home Ownership, Community Investment & Lending. As part of the larger plan, $5 Billion has been designated for Michigan, a 5-year plan that was developed in cooperation with the Governor, that is focused on lending, investment and philanthropic commitment and intended to help improve financial op-portunities for Michigan businesses, consumers and communities.
Launched in February 2021, the citywide program provides Flint residents with funding to renovate and improve homes. It is a partnership with the City of Flint, Genesee County Habitat for Humanity, Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Genesee County Land Bank Authority, MSHDA, Neighborhood Engagement Hub and Huntington.
