BuckID and Huntington checking account FAQs

One card is all you need. Get cash from any ATM. Huntington ATMs will be fee-free. Use your card to make purchases with a PIN anywhere. Requiring a PIN for purchases makes it harder for someone else to use your card if it's lost or stolen.

1. Choose a Huntington Checking account.

If you don't have a Huntington checking account, you can open one in a branch, online or by calling 855-341-4OSU (4678).

Here's the information you'll need:

  • Valid state issued ID
  • Your current BuckID
  • Your current mailing address
  • Your home address
  • Phone number
  • Social Security Number
  • Email address

2. Make sure you have a new linkable BuckID.

A linkable BuckID card has a 16-digit account number and the Huntington logo on the back. If yours doesn't, it's not linkable and you need a new one. Contact the BuckID office in the Ohio Union for more info on getting a new card for free at 614-292-0400.

3. Link your BuckID at any Huntington branch.

You'll have access to two cards: your BuckID and a Huntington debit card. Every Huntington checking account comes with a debit card, including exclusive Buckeye designs. You can use your BuckID or your Huntington debit card to make PIN-based purchases and ATM withdrawals tied to your checking account, and your Huntington debit card for signature-based transactions.

Any time you use your BuckID to make PIN-based purchases or ATM withdrawals, you will see these transactions on your Huntington statement. They come out of your checking balance and will appear with your other checking account transactions. Transactions made within the BuckID merchant network (without using a PIN) will not pull money from your checking account and will not show up on your statement. These transactions will be applied to the stored value already on your card.

Stop into any Huntington branch or call 855-341-4OSU (4678).

Visit any Huntington branch or call 800-480-BANK (2265) and select option 3 to report your linked BuckID as lost or stolen. Alert the BuckID office at 614-292-5700 immediately in order to suspend your BuckID. Visit a Huntington branch to link your new ID to your checking account.

1 Standby Cash®. Standby Cash is subject to terms and conditions and other account agreements. A cash advance fee equal to 5% of the amount of the cash advance will be collected from your Eligible Deposit Account immediately after the cash advance is deposited in that account. A 1% monthly interest charge (12% Annual Percentage Rate) will be added to outstanding balances if automatic payments are not scheduled. Available through online banking or the Huntington Mobile app to individuals with an active Huntington consumer checking account with at least three months of consistent deposit activity of $1,000 or more, and an average daily balance of $200 or more over the last 30 days. An active or recent bankruptcy or other legal process may disqualify you. Other eligibility requirements apply, including your recent overdraft and/or return history, regardless of whether you are charged overdraft fees or have transactions returned or they are waived with our 24-Hour Grace® and $50 Safety Zone® services. We reserve the right to change eligibility criteria at any time. Line amount and/or ongoing availability may vary based on changes to your deposit activity, average daily balance, and number and length of overdrafts and/or returns on any of your Huntington deposit accounts. When any of your Huntington deposit accounts are in an overdraft status for more than one day, your Standby Cash line may be suspended until they are no longer negative. If 90% or more of the approved credit line is drawn three months in a row, Standby Cash will be suspended until it’s paid to a zero balance. Business checking accounts are not eligible for Standby Cash.

2 $50 Safety Zone® and 24-Hour Grace®. Your account will be automatically closed if it remains negative in any amount for 60 days, including if your account is overdrawn within our $50 Safety Zone. Learn more at huntington.com/SafetyZone and huntington.com/Grace.

3 Zelle. For your protection, you should only send money to those you know and trust, such as family, friends and others such as your personal trainer, babysitter or neighbor. If you don’t know the person or aren’t sure you will get what you paid for, you should not use Zelle® for these types of transactions.

We cannot guarantee that you will receive the Early Pay service due to unanticipated circumstances. Early Pay is automatic and there is no fee. You can opt out of the Early Pay service at any time, by contacting a branch or calling our service center at (800) 480-2265 and asking to have Early Pay removed. For more information, please see a Consumer Deposit Account agreement, or contact a branch. Learn more at huntington.com/EarlyPay.
